Help Me Vote is a free, independent, non-commercial tool. This page explains — in plain English — what data the site does and does not collect, and the legal terms under which the site is provided.

The short version

• No personal data is collected. No names, no email addresses, no accounts, no postcodes, no IP-based location.
• No individual analytics are collected by the site creator. The site creator cannot see, retrieve or reconstruct any individual's answers, results or identity — no such record exists.
• No tracking. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, no cross-site profiling, no fingerprinting, no marketing pixels.
• Your answers stay on your device. Quiz answers and results are held in your own browser only.
• Counts, not people. The only site statistics that exist are anonymous, irreversible running totals (for example "number of quizzes completed"). They contain nothing that could ever be linked back to a person.

What we do not collect

We do not collect, store, request or process:

• names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses
• user accounts or passwords for members of the public
• IP addresses, geolocation or country data
• device fingerprints or advertising identifiers
• session identifiers that persist on our servers
• your individual answers, importance weightings, political position or party alignment

Political opinions are treated in UK GDPR as a special category of personal data. The site is deliberately designed so that this data is never transmitted in an identifiable form and is never stored at rest. The safest way to protect sensitive data is not to hold it.

What is stored on your own device

To make the quiz work, your browser stores your progress and results locally (in your browser's own storage). This never leaves your device unless you choose to share a result yourself.

You can erase it at any time by clearing your browser data or using Start over on the results page.

Anonymous aggregate counters

To understand whether the site is useful, the platform keeps a small number of anonymous running totals — for example how many people started or finished the quiz. These are:

• aggregated at the point of collection — individual contributions are folded into a total and immediately discarded
• irreversible — there is no stored row, key or identifier that could be re-linked to a person
• not personal data under UK GDPR, because no living individual can be identified from them, directly or indirectly, by us or anyone else

Because there is no personal data, there is nothing to export, correct or delete on request — and no data breach could ever expose an individual's political views through this site.

Cookies

Help Me Vote does not use advertising, marketing or analytics cookies. Only strictly necessary local browser storage is used to keep your quiz working and remember your theme preference. No consent banner is required for strictly necessary storage.

Contact form

If you choose to use the contact form, you provide only what you type. A reply email address is optional and only used to reply to you. Do not include sensitive personal information in a message.

Sharing

If you share your result, the shareable link or image is generated by you, on your device, and contains only what you choose to share. Sharing is entirely voluntary.

Third parties

The site does not sell, rent, share or transfer data to advertisers, political parties, campaign groups, data brokers or any other third party. There is no data to sell.

Hosting and infrastructure providers process only the technical requests needed to serve the website, in line with their own standard terms.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights over your personal data. Because Help Me Vote holds no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, rectify, erase, restrict or port. If you believe otherwise, please use the contact page and we will look into it promptly.

Independence

Help Me Vote is not affiliated with, funded by or endorsed by any political party, campaign group, lobbying organisation, government body or advertiser.

Help Me Vote is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", as a personal, independent, non-commercial educational project.

• No advice. Nothing on this site is legal, financial, electoral or professional advice. Results are an educational indication of alignment, not a recommendation, endorsement or instruction on how to vote.
• No guarantee of accuracy. Party positions are interpreted from publicly available manifestos, policy documents and public statements. Politics changes constantly and interpretation involves judgement. No warranty of accuracy, completeness, currency or fitness for any purpose is given, express or implied.
• Your decision is your own. Any voting decision you make is entirely your own, made at your own discretion and risk.
• No collection, no responsibility. Because the site creator collects no personal data and holds no individual analytics, the site creator cannot be responsible for the loss, exposure, misuse or disclosure of personal data that the site never collected, stored or possessed.
• Voluntary disclosure by you. If you choose to screenshot, publish or share your own results, that disclosure is made by you, at your discretion, and the site creator accepts no responsibility for the consequences.
• Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site creator, and any contributor to this site, excludes all liability for any loss or damage of any kind — direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary, including loss of profit, reputation, opportunity or data — arising from or connected with the use of, or inability to use, this site, its results, its content or any link from it.
• No legal responsibility for anonymous data. All statistics produced by this site are anonymous and aggregated, are not personal data, and cannot identify any individual. The site creator therefore accepts no responsibility or liability in respect of any claim, complaint or legal challenge founded on such anonymous data.
• Third-party content. Links to external sites are provided for convenience. The site creator has no control over and accepts no responsibility for third-party content, policies or availability.
• No relationship created. Use of this site does not create any professional, contractual, advisory or fiduciary relationship between you and the site creator.
• Statutory rights. Nothing in this page excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
