Ethics, Privacy & Transparency
Ethics, Privacy & Transparency
Our Mission
Help Me Vote was created to help people better understand where their priorities and views align across the UK political spectrum.
The platform is designed to encourage:
- political awareness
- issue-based comparison
- independent thinking
- greater civic engagement
The goal is not to persuade users who to vote for, but to provide a transparent and easy-to-understand political alignment tool.
Political Neutrality
Help Me Vote is designed as a politically neutral platform.
We do not:
- recommend political parties
- prioritise parties based on ideology
- promote political campaigns
- accept editorial control from political organisations
Parties are scored using a consistent methodology based on publicly available policy positions, manifestos and official statements.
Scores are intended to represent broad directional alignment only and are continuously reviewed and refined over time.
Transparency
Transparency is a core principle of the platform.
We openly provide:
- our scoring methodology
- issue weighting system
- policy explanations
- comparison logic
- party positioning framework
The platform is designed so users can understand:
- how results are calculated
- why parties scored highly or poorly
- which issues most influenced their outcome
Privacy & Data Collection
Help Me Vote is designed to minimise data collection wherever possible.
We aim to collect only anonymous, aggregated analytics used to:
- improve the platform
- understand broad issue trends
- analyse overall platform usage
- improve user experience
We do not currently collect:
- names
- email addresses
- phone numbers
- exact addresses
- exact postcodes
- personally identifiable political profiles
We do not sell personal political data.
Anonymous Analytics
The platform may collect anonymous analytics such as:
- total visits
- quiz completions
- average session duration
- most weighted issues
- most influential issues
- broad regional trends
- anonymous aggregated party alignment trends
This data is used only at an aggregate level and is not tied to identifiable individuals.
No Political Profiling
Help Me Vote is not designed to create individual political profiles.
We do not:
- build personal voter databases
- target individuals based on political views
- share identifiable political opinions with third parties
- allow political parties to influence user results
Any future reporting or analytics products will use anonymised and aggregated trend data only.
Independence
Help Me Vote operates independently.
Any future partnerships, sponsorships or research collaborations will not influence:
- scoring methodology
- party positioning
- issue weighting logic
- user results
The integrity and neutrality of the platform are considered essential to maintaining public trust.
Limitations
Political beliefs are complex and cannot be perfectly represented through numerical scoring alone.
Results should be viewed as:
- broad directional guidance
- issue-based comparison
- a starting point for further research
Users are encouraged to read full manifestos and official policy documents before making voting decisions.
Experimental Platform
Help Me Vote is currently a public beta platform.
Policies, methodology and scoring systems may evolve over time as:
- party positions change
- political priorities shift
- the platform develops further
- user feedback improves the system
Contact & Feedback
Constructive feedback is welcomed as part of improving the platform's fairness, transparency and usability.
